Venice Canals Nearly Empty As Tide Falls Drastically | NBC News



Venice’s famous waterways are lying bare as the tide has fallen dramatically, just two months after the city’s streets were flooded. The Italian city built on a saltwater lagoon often sees tides rise and fall, but the extreme drop recently has created transportation issues, as gondolas and other boats struggle to get around.
