🇸🇦 How will Saudi deal with stock market plunge? l Inside Story

The disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is hitting the Saudi economy.
Stocks plunged almost 7 percent in early trading on Sunday, wiping out all the gains it had made since the start of the year.
The fall comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened ‘severe punishment’ if Saudi Arabia was found to be responsible for Khashoggi’s disappearance, but Riyadh warned it would retaliate if economic sanctions are imposed on it.
As pressure mounts on Saudi Arabia, several U.S. media organisations and business leaders have pulled out of a major investment conference in Riyadh
What was dubbed “Davos in the desert” is supposed to promote Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s reform vision for the Kingdom.
So, where does that leave all his plans?

Presenter: Imran Khan

Khalid Al Khater, economist and researcher at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the University of Cambridge
Naeem Aslam, Chief market analyst at ThinkMarkets
Imad Harb, Director of Research and Analysis at the Arab Center Washington DC

  1. The Saudi terrorist regime must fall and the so called royals sent to the gallows

  2. We dont want you to play with your new freinds Russia and China?

  3. I stand by my intuitive outlook for future of Kingdom. First of all these out look is several years old as per my intuition and these two numbers were observed by me during meditation on Saudi Arabia name. First one is #33 which is about the Crown Prince who took over the first in line to the throne title in his 33rd year of his life and the second number that appeared as an image in my meditative mind is 2019. I see a very turbulent year as it relates to the year 2019. There will be uprising against the King and his son by fundamentalist forces with the help of insiders who are quietly putting together a force to remove the present rulers since he broke the tradition on succession of King in case of his death. The Crown Prince is under excessive amount of psychological stress from outside and internal forces which might push him away from Western supporters and force him to seek refuge under Russian led alliance. The last two lines of this paragraph are just my personal view and not intuitive opinion. I am not a psychic but focus on meditative intuitive answers on various topics such as natural disasters, international Geo politics, internal politics of various nations which are either located in an area which is strategically going to play major role to counter the nations which are either engaged in expansionist goals or sponsoring terror groups.

  4. well done richard branson a man with balls

  5. Think: do you buy any product made in Saudi Arabia? Phones? Office machines? Car parts? Of course not, bc. it is not a real economy. Like Russia, Saudi is just a crime family enterprise, and only a fool would buy Russian or Saudi stocks. Even if you live there.

  6. Karmic retribution! Get rid of that disgusting despotic Saud family!

  7. MBS would happily do the same with everybody at Al Jazeera. Still this will not affect him much, expect Trump to back whatever fiction the Criminal Regime puts out

  8. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

  9. Trump administration fully backs the MBS regime. End of story

  10. Naeem Aslam has an unusual accent. Within each sentence, he uses a British accent for some words, and his original accent for other words, sort of alternating the two. It's kind of distracting, but he also speaks slowly and clearly, so he's easy for a native English speaker to understand. I guess he's in the process of mutating into a Londoner. I feel sorry for him.

  11. Why does this news anchor not just say that Saudi has not invested their oil money wisely because they are lazy and know nothing off infrastructure and building because under the façade they are still Arabs . When I worked building there city not one Arab Muslim worked on any jobs all to bizzy doing nothing so no training there then . they did not do the gold leafing that was a British and German Trade Compy . Another is spending money on Fighting wars the British and Americans sold them £BILLIONS of Arms all state of the art and they did not know how to use them so it cost more to train them . Know they wonder where the money goes maybe they should get a American and British accountants to do that job for them LOL

  12. Wow,United States controls the market…

  13. Saudi economy will become big zero

  14. This might be the false flag we need to to lock up the world's oil; secure shipping lanes; cower Islam terrorists. Plus two supreme Court justices, yeah, I'm tired of winning.

  16. Lots of talk and posturing by US officials…nothing of substance will happen. Americans are bed with the Saudis..cannot risk pulling up covers.

  17. Let Saudi Arabia embargo us! PLEASE! Embargo us & DRINK your oil !

  18. Those hideous costumes the men wear have nothing to do with with the stock market. I am just voicing my opinion that it is hard for ME to take somebody dressed with a dish towel hat topping off a bathrobe seriously. Lots of these men are intensely intelligent too. I know its their TRADITION like the Quran.

  19. No democracy no investment. Saudi Arabia is a problem in the middle east. It will destroy itself by its own stupid moves. America cannot have double standards. I agree Saudi Arabia is a bad investment this government does not seem it will last for more than year.

  20. When this blows over it will be back to business as usual…

  21. Perhaps it’s time for a little “Regime Change” in Saudi Arabia.

  22. The guests must all be a bit nervous…

  23. When Canada spoke out about human rights abuse in Saudi Arabia, the world remained silent and no countries stood with Canada

  24. Alhamdililah, Alhamdililah The saudies committed murder. R.i.p Jamal

  25. Allow for domestic discourse? …in a country that still conducts public beheadings!? The writing's on the wall, with this planet in an extreme crisis of global warming, the Saudi's time is up and they know it. They only have oil which is a cancer to Mother Earth.
…before long they'll be an insignificant nomadic tribe of wife beaters that no one cares about.

  26. Saudis should stop selling oil in USD. What has disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi got to do with Trump and others. Perhaps Saudi Arabia do not need American protection in regards to Israel. Saudis should revisit Henry Kissengers, Nixons globalist sidekick agreement.
