The most innovative beauty tool we’ve seen as of late isn’t a $100 makeup brush or an augmented reality beauty app. It’s a toy. Specifically, it’s a teeny, plastic washing machine that beauty blogger Tiffany Lynette Davis decided to turn into a beauty blender cleansing device.
Available on Amazon for a mere $11, Davis originally ordered the toy for her dollhouse. But as HuffPost points out, she MacGyvered the mini washing machine into a way to make cleaning makeup sponges — a dreaded activity — into playtime. It’s like the beauty version of the Barney “Clean Up Song.”
Davis’s Instagram video showing off her device’s powers immediately went viral, and she followed it up with a YouTube video in which she gives an honest review of the washing machine’s makeup capabilities.
“Would I recommend this for everyday use? No,” she explains. “Like I said, this is a toy. This is not a beauty blender or makeup sponge washer.” Despite her insistent reminders, the entire beauty internet is ready to drop some cash on this adorable device. “Oh my god I need this!!!!!” wrote one commenter. “I need ASAP,” agreed another.
While you’re waiting for your order to arrive, try one of these ways to wash a makeup sponge with ingredients already in your kitchen.
