Check Out Apple’s Updated Privacy Site ASAP

I’m a stickler for good data security, so it warms my heart when a massive tech company like Apple takes steps to be even more transparent about how it treats our data. Specifically, I’m referring to Apple’s new landing page that makes reviewing the company’s privacy policies and changing security settings even easier.

All Apple users should take a few minutes to peruse the company’s privacy information and file this site away for future reference. While Apple isn’t immune to criticisms over how to handles user data, its website does much to inform users about how the company generally deals with your information. Its website includes links to Apple’s various privacy policies, shortcuts to privacy settings, and general explanations on how it handles your data for the following first-party apps and services:

  • Apple ID
  • App Store
  • Apple News
  • Apple Pay/Wallet
  • Health tracking apps
  • iMessage
  • Maps and location data
  • Photos
  • Safari
  • Siri
  • Plus other helpful links and shortcuts.

While it doesn’t appear as if Apple has made any substantive changes to its privacy policies, its redesign at least organized this critical information into an easier-to-navigate website. Of particular interest is Apple’s “Control” page, which highlights the various settings and features you can use to tweak your devices’ privacy settings to your liking.
