If you read his and Tim Scotts book you learn how the media involvement is a competitive matter for members of Congress. Trey is not really a political figure or a usually a shameless self promoting type person but he will speak publicly if required to convey information. He is actually a rather humble decent person and does not want to be exploited or accused of grandstanding just for doing a good job. "What good does it serve the world playing it small"? though comes to mind when I watch him.
I think Trey focused on the e-mails to demonstrate her lack of character because as a prosecutor he is used to discrediting a witness for establishing doubt. The fact that the soldiers made repeated requests for assistance is relevant though and it does demonstrate how disposable some members of the military are to the country which is also despicable. They use human lives as currency those were men not just another gun.
If they were unsolicited why was she forwarding the "intelligence" anonymously and he was according to her just someone who had done work for her Husband at the Clinton foundation. Was he questioned by Congress?
There is nothing to stop it happening again though. The IRS situation either they just destroy evidence lie and refuse to talk. It's going to be total anarchy soon.
