The first Jacko vs. Kakko matchup likely will take place barely two weeks into their NHL careers — Oct. 17 at Prudential Center — when Devils No. 1 overall pick Jack Hughes and the man the Rangers selected next, Kaapo Kakko, meet on the ice for the first time in a regular-season game.
The two star rookies are slated to go at it again in Newark on Nov. 30, before taking what may be the NHL’s hottest new rivalry to Madison Square Garden on Jan. 9 and March 7.
The NHL released their full regular-season schedules Tuesday.
Islander fans will get their lone chance to jeer John Tavares on Nov. 13 when the Maple Leafs visit Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders play in Toronto on Jan. 4 and March 19.
The Islanders will play 21 home games at the Coliseum and 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Islanders and Rangers don’t meet until Jan. 13, but will play three games in eight days against each other.
Hughes and the Devils make their first trip across the East River on Jan. 2, when they play the Islanders at Barclays Center.
The Rangers will play their 2,000th all-time regular-season game at the current Madison Square Garden on Oct. 27 against Boston. They also will play their 7,000th all-time game (regular season and playoffs combined) on Feb. 2 against Dallas at the Garden.
