Jerry Jones had a bizarre way of telling people he’s not worried about the Dallas Cowboys’ contract disputes.
The longtime Cowboys owner used an unsettling analogy about a nearly severed hand to convey that he’s been here before, and his experience makes him well-equipped to handle negotiations with stars Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper.
“Picture you were a driver of a car and you had a wreck and your hand was almost severed off, but you didn’t understand your anatomy,” Jones told reporters Tuesday. “You look down, you’re spurting blood, you open the door, and run to the woods, and either die bleeding to death or shock. The educated man looks down, knows his anatomy, squeezes and knows his best chance is to wait for help. That’s because he’s been there a lot and done that. So I’m squeezing and waiting for help.”
Someone then asked the 76-year-old Jones where his help is coming from, to which he replied, “Pull it out of my…” and began laughing. Another part of the anatomy, someone pointed out to Jones.
“Exactly,” Jones said. “We’re having an anatomy lesson. The best one of all. I wish I were that quick.”
