“A 102-year-old woman is being evicted from her longtime residence in unincorporated Ladera Heights so the landlord’s daughter can move in instead, according to an eviction notice the woman received.

Thelma Smith was given notice on March 8 that she must vacate the single-family home where she has resided for nearly 30 years.

The woman’s situation has garnered the attention of many throughout the country, including former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who tweeted about his friendship with her.”

  1. What do you think about people with full time jobs being forced to live on the streets? Let us know in the comments below.

  2. The USA needs to invest in building Public housing "That's socialism " were the rents are low and the quality of the housing is high, which would be a alternative to private housing, and give that part of the American public a, alternative to what's already there, and it could force rental costs down across the hole market ! Country.

  3. Truth is greed is the problem. The wealthy elite, huge corporations and it's share holders are never satisfied. Billions of Trump's trickle down tax bill dollars are no longer in circulation. The oversight committee pulled in the CEO of JP Morgan Chase and raising wages was the furthest thing on his mind while earning millions annually, and it was the same for every other wealthy CEO they interviewed. As the old saying goes. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

  4. No housing puts people on the streets. Damned landlords who just want more and more rents. It's really bad when it costs 1000 a month to rent a closet size space. We need more landlord control. And. More control over criminals who rent. Rent control is a possiblilty. But no one not even the dems care. As long as the rich have theirs. Screw everyone else. Ask pelosi

  5. Prepare USA those yellow vest protests are coming.

  6. you know what doesn't help morons? raising the prices of gas to 4.50, raising the prices of housing, the prices of owning a vehicle. Liberals are the cause of this issue, as it in, California has 25% of the countries homeless despite being 10% of the country. I voted for john cox to actually help these problems but nope, we got Gavin newsom who doesn't do anything but talk about other states and complaining about trump.

  7. There are literately thousands of Hondurans entering the U.S. each and every day. What effect does this have on the low-skilled workforce?

  8. Thats a lie. Look at san fran calif. High taxes, rent way to high, drug and alcohol abuse. So dont lie

  9. A college degree today don't mean squat. Even 15 per/hr….. still amounts to poverty. … no matter how frugal you're forced to live….and this is without dependants. Rent, utilities and automobile gas will eat up most of your pay.

  10. I make 15 an hour I can afford the essentials and not much else that’s what a minimum wage should get you

  14. Trump is causing low wages everywhere.

  15. How much do you people make? I’m sure more than minimum wage.

  16. They just stopped counting them, sadly the government used to bus the homeless to Vegas and then Vegas would bus them back.
Operation Rio Grande was made to keep drugs down around the downtown mission and roadhome. They set up a police headquarters in the middle of the area.

  17. I live in Ft Lauderdale Florida I know a single mom with a teen daughter who works at taco bell so does her daughter (after school) she's living in a motel. She's very soon to be homeless.

  18. With respect TYT, low wages alone don't cause homelessness. It's a problem with demand outstripping supply. Increase wages and someone will be able to afford to pay more, but so will everyone else.

  20. Yes, all the powerful people- Alphabet, Google, Facebook and Amazon. Funny the highest rates of homelessness are in the same areas these companies are located. Its not unusual for people working at these bastions of progressiveness to be living out of their cars. When you raise the minimum wage prices go up and jobs shrink. This is a free market, that’s how it works. Allowing an open border will only cause these issues to skyrocket, also. It’s incredibly irresponsible and cruel to invite people into a situation where they’ll be taken advantage of, and won’t have protections. It’s also a great way to screw our own citizens out of low wage jobs for the unskilled.

  21. Hey I got an idea to fix this. Lets allow millions of unskilled people into the country to drive down wages. Who's with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
