When Ole Henriksen launched Banana Bright Eye Crème, it sold out pretty much immediately — not just on the brand’s website, but on the websites of nearly every retailer that carries it. And when it came back in stock, well, it flew off virtual shelves again. So it’s no surprise that the beloved skin-care brand has decided to launch another Banana Bright product; what is surprising, however, is that it’s technically a makeup product.
Ole Henriksen’s Instagram account announced on Monday that Banana Bright Face Primer is launching later this week, and from the looks of the comments, that’s not soon enough for fans of the brand. “Wow can’t wait to try this,” one commenter wrote, while another proclaimed, “I need this in my life!” So what is it about this primer that they — and we, to be honest — are so eagerly looking forward to?
According to the product page, which is up and running but not yet allowing orders, Banana Bright Face Primer is a “vitamin C-powered illuminating makeup primer that delivers instant radiance while improving and extending makeup wear.” The hydrating, imperfection-blurring formula features what the brand calls a “subtly sunny tint” that promises to work on all skin tones and instantly color-correct and brighten the complexion. Even better: It can be worn alone, under makeup, mixed in with foundation, or even dabbed on top of makeup as a highlighter.
Like Banana Bright Eye Crème, Banana Bright Face Primer was inspired by a makeup-artist must-have, “banana powder.” And also like the eye cream, it doesn’t actually contain banana. It does, however, contain extracts of other beneficial fruits like orange, lemon, and seaberry, which work alongside the formula’s vitamins C and E to make not only an immediate brightening impact but a long-term nourishing and protective one, too — no surprise from a product in Ole Henriksen’s Truth line.
Banana Bright Face Primer, which comes in a pump-top tube, launches for $34 on Thursday, February 21 on both olehenriksen.com and at Sephora — and if this launch is anything like Banana Bright Eye Crème’s, you can expect it to sell out quickly.
