This season’s festival-favorite beauty trend, the “glitter butt,” is getting the Halloween treatment. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
It looks like some creative mind on ye olde Internet realized that in addition to looking vaguely like peaches, butts also sort of, kind of, look like pumpkins. Thus, this year’s most questionable Halloween costume — butts! Painted like sparkly pumpkins! — was born.
British newspaper The Sun was the first to spot the NSFW trend, which involves painting your derrière to look like a Jack-O-Lantern — complete with a creepy-cute grin across the crack (yes, seriously).
The look was created by Go Get Glitter, the team behind the original Glitter Butt trend that was likely all over your Instagram feed during Coachella this year, who was inspired to take the festival-ready look and turn it into something seasonal.
“The glitter bum trend we started is so popular, we wanted to find a way to tie it in with the Halloween content we have been creating,” Sophia Levy, makeup artist and co-founder of Go Get Glitter, told Marie Claire. “Our peach bum was, and still is, one of our most popular looks, so we wanted to recreate it with a Halloween twist!”
The Go Get Glitter team debuted the look earlier this week on Instagram, with the caption “🎃✨TWERK OR TREAT✨🎃,” which, LOL.
In the past few days, other steady-handed makeup artists have begun to try the body art out for themselves, and we’re willing to bet there will be a whole crop (sorry, not sorry) of pumpkin glitter butts popping up on our feeds between now and October 31.
If you’re checking out these photos and thinking, “I’ve officially found my Halloween costume,” (…no judgement) Levy told Marie Claire that getting the look requires “[using] black and orange paint to draw out the shape, and then [filling] it in using our Glitter Fix and chunky glitter.” And obviously, a really, really good friend with a steady AF hand.
