Makeup plays almost as significant a role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as its cast members. In addition to the show’s makeup artists completely nailing the look of the time and using it as a metaphor for independence and power, the main character, Rachel Brosnahan’s Midge Maisel, clearly has a love for it — especially lipstick. In the first season, she’s seen recommending two red lipsticks to a shopper at the Revlon counter, and in the second season, she gets a job at the very same counter. And now, in a nod to those moments, Revlon has launched The Marvelous Super Lustrous Collection.
The collection includes two bundles of three full-size lipsticks in shades it’s easy to picture Midge wearing. Take The Stage Reds is a set three shades red-lipstick devotees will adore (and perhaps already do): Fire & Ice, Certainly Red, and one of the colors she recommended in season one, Cherries in the Snow. Stand-Up Nudes includes three universally flattering and equally classic nude shades with varying undertones: Pink Truffle, Blushing Mauve, and Rum Raisin.
“From Midge Maisel to Rose Weissman, the women of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are meticulous about their beauty routines, which include freshly coiffed hair and a seemingly endless array of lip colors complementing their perfectly tailored outfits,” reads a press release from Revlon. “Midge’s own bold choices are a hallmark of the show and reflect her trailblazing spirit as she finds her own path to independence in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Revlon’s iconic Fire & Ice campaign debuted around the same time, marking the first time women were encouraged to wear makeup for themselves as a mode of self-expression. It was an impactful cultural moment and complements Revlon’s presence in the show as one of Midge’s favorite beauty brands.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is an Amazon original, so it only makes sense that the two sets are available on Amazon. You can get each limited-edition trio for $20 while supplies last.
