The Golden Knights will close out their current road trip on Friday night in Big D with a matchup against the Stars, who are holding on to one of the two wild-card spots in the Western Conference. Dallas has been all about winning with defense and goaltending this season.
The Stars are not the offensive juggernaut they have been in previous seasons, but have learned to lean on a tight-checking defensive style that has served them well lately.
The Stars had won four of their past five games coming into Thursday and have held their opponent to two goals or fewer in four of those five contests. Goalie Ben Bishop has been terrific in net lately for Dallas.
Vegas has been in fine form since the trade deadline with the acquisition of Mark Stone lighting a fire under this team that has translated to its on-ice results. The Golden Knights have won six of their past seven games and have been getting increased contributions from all four lines offensively and have also improved their defensive play quite a bit.
Marc-Andre Fleury has come out of a recent funk as he’s put forth four consecutive starts of allowing two or fewer goals.
This has the makings of a game that could stay Under the total. Dallas has been one of the strongest Under teams in the NHL this season and Vegas may be looking to clean things up defensively a bit after a 6-3 loss in Calgary in their last game prior to this one.
The play: Golden Knights-Stars Under 5 ¹/₂ goals.
